Lynette Lau, phd
the human behind the screen
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist (CA PSY28347) in Southern California specializing in infant/early childhood mental health, stress/trauma, and couple/family relationships. I also specialize in providing neurodiversity affirming therapy to autistic and other neurodivergent individuals (e.g., ADHD). I’ve listed my education and clinical training on this page, so you have a sense of where and how I was trained.
I currently hold appointments as a clinical psychologist at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and as an assistant clinical professor at the UCLA Department of Psychology. Through these appointments, I provide didactics and clinical supervision to predoctoral and postdoctoral psychology trainees. Also, as a reflection of my commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI), I founded and co-lead the Intersectional Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Accountability (IIDEA) committee for the Psychology Division and Psychiatry Department at Harbor-UCLA.
Beyond all this, you should know that I am strongly passionate about science, equity, and inclusion. I am continually doing work to improve my approach to thinking about and providing clinical care for marginalized populations. As part of these efforts, I approach clinical work using a social model of disability, with the perspective that the academic and clinical expertise are just as important as lived experience, and with a firm commitment to values affirming practices.
